Responses from this site's readers are overwhelmingly positive—I am very grateful for everyone's generosity.

However, much to my surprise, when someone doesn't have something positive to say, it is usually not because they have a beef with the material, but the question comes in the form of "what gives you the right to act as if you know all the answers?"

Because it seems a stumbling block for some, it's worth a response.

  1. My apologies wherever there is the slightest tone of arrogance, that is the opposite of my intention—which is simply to offer info I wish someone had told me earlier—info that has made a powerful difference in my life. (Hopefully any errors of self-promotion are due to poor communication skills!)
  2. Most importantly, ideas should be accepted not on the basis of who says them, but on whether or not they are true. So, the question above is relevant only psychologically, not logically.
  3. That being the case, it makes sense to ask:  "Is it possible some of our motivation is to hide behind the question, rather than be more open?"  :)
